About the Charlie Brear Brand
Every Charlie Brear wedding dress is designed and hand-finished in London. The design process starts in-house at the studio in Queens Park, where a single prototype of each dress - also known as a sample - is produced then meticulously tested to ensure fit. We source our fabrics from specialist suppliers in the UK and look to France and Italy for exquisite laces which are hand crafted on looms dating back 250 years.
We follow this design process for the contemporary bridal and eveningwear labels. Every wedding dress is designed and hand-finished right here in London.
The bridal collection is stocked in 60 boutiques world wide and has attracted a cult following from spirited and modern brides who want their wedding dress to be as unique as they are. Founded in 2005 as The Vintage Wedding Company, since 2013 the brand bears the eponymous name of it's founder. Our produces two seasonal bridal collections a year in harmony with Additions, a permanent collection of styling pieces such as skirts, sashes and sleeves designed to help brides create a bespoke look.
Charlie Brear's bi-annual eveningwear collection is stocked exclusively at the London studio and sold via our online shop complements the bridal range with splashes of colour and fashion-forward silhouettes. High profile women who have worn the collections include Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller and Caroline Issa.
Our brand history
Charlie Brear founded The Vintage Wedding Dress
Company, meticulously restoring vintage wedding
dresses and re-styling them to be worn again.
Designed first collection, ‘Decades’, inspired by the
most popular vintage styles and sold exclusively in our
first boutique in Bloomsbury, London. The pioneering
Additions collection was launched alongside a range
of dresses. A completely new way of selling, using the
range of sleeves, sashses, overskirt and tops to trans
form each gown.
Exhibited bridal collection for the first time to market
at The White Gallery London and attracted stores from around the UK and Europe.
To coincide with the launch of Charlie’s bi-annual
eveningwear collection, the company rebranded to bear
the name of its founder. We began working with stores
in Asia and Australasia, continuing to
create new and innovative ways to style one dress.
2014 - 2015
Launched the collection at New York Bridal Week for
the first time and began to expand into America. The
Additions collection continued to grow in popularity:
Charlie Brear is acknowledged as the for-runner in this
trend. The collections work cohesively, allowing stores to
build a diverse and interactive collection.
Continued to increase sales with over 60 stores world wide.
Launched the 2018 collection in Barcelona, London and Milan
