Presenting Charlie Brear’s #FridayBride

This week, the Charlie Brear team takes you to a chic island retreat in Ibiza! Andrea & Morgan celebrated at their dream destination, Es Vedra, last Summer. The island’s stories and majestic views are what attracted this couple to such a stunning destination. Es Vedra is said to be the third most magnetic spot on the planet; not only is the view stunning but the atmosphere is full of good vibes. They hired out the stunning Villa Lotus for their week-long festivities, making precious memories with their family and friends who came from all around the world.

A glamorous spiritual wedding by the ocean... Andrea channelled Farrah Fawcett, looking stunning with her gorgeous long hair, wearing our Payton dress layered with a sheer, floor length cape and accessorised with gold platform heels.

Andrea & Morgan’s unreal wedding pictures were captured by Nathan Murrell.

When and where did your partner propose to you?
Easter morning, I was in the lounge and in hops a brown bunny with the ring tied around its neck with a red ribbon. I am a big bunny fan and have quite a bit of bunny paraphernalia so it was very personal and cute!

Which dress did you choose and why? And where did you buy it from?
Payton and at the Charlie Brear showroom of course! I always thought I would have something very elaborate but after a day of trying dresses on the one I chose was the most simple, classic and beautiful of all!

How was your experience shopping for your wedding dress?
I took a girlfriend with me and we hit up every major formal / bridal boutique and department store in London. We stopped for a champagne here or there and it really was true.. the minute you popped on ‘the one’ you knew. Our job was done! It was very relaxed and I definitely wanted to avoid too many opinions and Abby was the perfect partner in crime. The team at Charlie Brear were so accommodating and didn’t overwhelm me with choices but understood my taste preferences straight away.

What would your advice be to other brides shopping for a wedding dress?
Don’t take your tribe but just one person whose taste you trust

What shoes did you wear?
I love shoes so I got two pairs of Gucci platforms for the wedding (hey, you only get married once!). The cork pair were a little more suited to the disco so in the end I went for the little more errr… conservative-ish gold cracked platform leather pair.

Did you struggle finding the right lingerie that worked with your dress, if so would you recommend anything for future brides? You want to feel beautiful and gorgeous lingerie that is flattering definitely helps! I would recommend checking that it is suitable for your gown. Often elaborate lingerie can show and although look wonderfully bridal may let your guests in on what you have on underneath! An honest friend or mother is always handy to make sure that there’s no issue with your behind.

Who did your hair & make-up and how did you find them?
I wanted to make sure my skin was in tip top shape so had ensured I was well prepped with regular facials (every 6-8 weeks) in the 6 months lead up to the wedding.  I was so very lucky and had a top London makeup artist Yin Lee, who was not only a guest at the wedding but did my makeup and my bridesmaids. She is not only a brilliant make up artist but a treasure to be around.

How did you feel walking down the aisle?
Very nervous initially and then full of laughter and joy. We had a very uneven surface of loose stones and gravel due to the location being au naturel, so to combat that in our heels we were all giggling holding each other up! The things you do for fashion and a great view.

What traditions did you follow?
We didn’t really adhere to traditions but kept it very personal. We were so lucky and had many friends who contributed to our wedding garments which made them very special. The dress of course came from the amazing Charlie, then the jewellery was made and gifted to us from our dear friend Kate of Auren Jewellery, my bag was a wedding present was from my dear friend and designer Barbara Bonner – the Joe Le Taxi 19 carat gold clutch detailed in ostrich plumes. Morgan’s jacket was a commission by Hillier Bartley and given to him by another dear friend Barbara. We were utterly spoilt and that made everything we had on feel so much more personal and meaningful.

Did your wedding have any quirky or unusual features?
First of all, fun fact, it turns out our villa used to belong to the male model who was the inspiration for Ben Stiller’s character in Zoolander! In the lead up to the wedding we had a day on the water with speed boats and took them over to Formentera with sea toys in tow for an amazing lunch on the beach. Then for the wedding itself the ceremony was lead by a shaman called Melchior who was awesome and even had the biggest spiritual sceptics digging the vibe. We had the Benirras drummers perform a soundtrack to the whole ceremony which was pretty mystical. The day after the ceremony we held a Paella pool party complete with an Ibizan mamma making traditional paellas. We also shipped a load of paella pool floaties over from London. All of our friends and family playing in the pool is one of our fondest memories from the wedding.

What was the funniest moment of the day?
When the best man was left on the cliff or when the event manager called as we were piling into an already full bridal car to bring more chairs to the ceremony… that was just not going to happen!

Who took your wedding pictures?
Nathan Murrell, a dear friend of the groom

If you could do it all again, would you do anything differently?
Oooh to be honest an island wedding full of people who have never been there before and with NO street signs was pretty ambitious ;) Recruit more people to help organise and manage guests than you think you need.

Did you find organising your wedding an easy process? What parts were easy and what parts were trickier?
It was fun, especially the weekend trips to try tasting menus! Having a very hands on experienced team to manage the event for you is absolutely key and definitely the biggest challenge we had.

What will you do with your dress now?
I want to wear it again as I LOVED the fit but regardless I will keep it in case we have a daughter

What are you and your husband's best memories of the day?
I grew up in Australia so being surrounded by all of our friends and family from all over the globe was really special. For both Morgan and I we wanted to bring everyone together from all corners of the globe and we succeeded. We had representatives from the UK, Germany, France, Italy, USA, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, Qatar, UAE, Jamaica, The Netherlands and Lebanon

1) Focus on the broad strokes not the finer details

2) Skin Prep! Don’t forget about seeing a top facialist or dermal therapist (I am bias with Pfeffer Sal) and commencing an amazing skin program 3-6 months before the big day to be at your glowing best!

3)Try and spend as much time with all the people that have come, we extended our wedding to be a week long to make sure that we managed to spend quality time with all our friends and family.

4)More is more when it comes to drink! We may have over ordered (and had to ship wine back to London) but it’s always reassuring to know that there’s enough drink to go around

5)Make sure you have a great (and reliable) caterer. Delicious food = happy guests
